WTA Parma Open Semi-Finalists – Final Word on Tennis
The 2021 WTA Parma Open semi-finalists are in their first year. Big surprises developed along the way as seed Serena Williams was eliminated in the second round. The player who beat her KateÅina SiniakovÃ¡ has qualified for the last four players in the contention for the title. Sloane Stephens has found his game as well as Qiang Wang. Coco Gauff continues to impress and is making great strides to be at the top of the game. Here are the four finalists of the Parma Open.
WTA Parma Open semi-finalists
The Czech is having a great week qualifying for the last four players in the Parma Open. Her biggest achievement in the event was knocking out great Serena Williams in straight sets in the second round. She has yet to give up a set in the tournament and has looked the best she has had in a while.
Best known for her success in doubles, the Czech played very well in singles this week. She beat rising star Clara Tauson in the first round in a comfortable fashion. Serena Williams was the only player to push her in a set as they were involved in a tiebreaker. However, the Czech came out on top at the end and won in straight sets. Then she beat Caroline Garcia in a well-fought first set.
Now she’s going to take on the young American teen phenomenon Coco Gauff. She only played the young American once and lost to her final year at Ostrava. She will seek revenge as she is on a winning streak. Nonetheless, she played very well in singles and should continue to improve and be in good shape for Roland Garros.
The young American teenager now plays incredible tennis. She has just reached the semi-finals of the Italian Open. Now she’s in another semi-final and has a shot to reach the final. Gauff has yet to give up a set so far during this tournament. The only player who really pushed her was Kaia Kanepi in the first round. They went to the tiebreaker in both sets, and the American came out on top of that game.
After that, she beat Camila Giorgi in straight sets in a comfortable fashion. The Italian couldn’t match the American’s power and the teenager raced to the next round. She then met her compatriot Amanda Anisimova in an all-American battle.
The youngest of the Americans won because she turned out to be too much for Anisimova. Then she will face KateÅina SiniakovÃ¡ whom she beat last year in Ostrava in their only previous meeting. The young teenager plays wonderfully and is on the right track for Roland-Garros.
The 2017 US Open champion is finally having a great week. She reached the semifinals of a tournament for the first time this year. No doubt this will boost her confidence as she has been playing her best tennis for a long time. In the first round, she played a cunning opponent in her compatriot Caty McNally. She won the match in straight sets and booked herself a match against Daria Kasatkina afterwards.
The Russian has been the only player to win a set from the American so far. They both fought until the end, but the American turned out to be the better player in the end. Then, Sara Errani who is a good clay player. This was not the case against the American as she easily beat the Italian in straight sets and produced an Italian bagel in the last set. Now, she will play Wang Qiang in the semifinals and try to beat her for the first time. She will try to keep playing well and bring him an A game in her next game.
The Chinese player has not performed well throughout the year. Finally, she managed to string together a few wins and played very well all week. In the first round, she beat Misaki Doi in straight sets. Then she beat Martina Di Giuseppe in her home country. It was the easiest win to date as she won in straight sets.
After that, she played a thriller against Petra MartiÄ. This match traveled the entire distance and both players played top level tennis. The first set was so close that it was decided in a tie breaker where the Chinese player won. Then the Croatian rebounded in the second set and took it with some force. The final set was the same as the first, but the Chinese player managed to break her opponent’s serve and served for victory.
Now she has reserved a game against Sloane Stephens in the semifinals. She has played against the American twice and is undefeated against her. Although these matches were played on hard courts and were back in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Nonetheless, she is playing well and will try to bring her winning game to her next game.
Entertaining semi-final matches
Both matches appear to be full of entertainment as all four players have been providing high quality tennis all week. For its inaugural event, the Parma Open delivered and will play two beautiful semi-finals. All four women have played very well all week and will try to continue like this to reach the final.
