Classic rewind! Sarah Michelle Gellar just argued for the return of ’80s beauty trends – and fans are all for the flashback.

On Wednesday January 12, the 44-year-old actress shared on Instagram a video straight out of the famous decade. She wore blue eyeshadow and a bold blush, complemented by a bright pink lipstick. As for the hair? She wore it in a bun and let her bangs and framing tendrils take center stage. And that’s not all. She accessorized the look with two mismatched neon lightning earrings.

“As I haven’t been impressed enough with 2022 so far, I’m just thinking of bringing back 1983,” she wrote in the accompanying caption.

It didn’t take long for famous fans and friends to jump into the comments section, apparently signing the petition for a return to trends. “I agree with that,” Selma blair wrote, while celebrity hairstylist Rachel Godwin said: “YES!”

One user pointed out that the entire look served the “Gem and the Holograms” vibes, while others echoed her sentiment for a “throwback to the 80s.”

Gellar isn’t the only star calling for a resurgence of decades-old trends. In fact, everyone from Tori spelling at Christina aguilera calls for a comeback of ’90s and early 2000s fashion.

In a November 2021 interview, the “Lady Marmalade” singer declared her support for a revival of low rise jeans. “I know that the low waist is coming back and that the moments under the breasts are coming back in force. It’s really nice to look back and recognize a lot of those moments, ”she said in an interview with In the style. “I know a lot of female artists go through this, but sometimes we get the heat to do certain things or not everyone gets it.”

The spelling, for its part, revealed in an April 2021 interview with Us weekly that she loves the whole crop top and mom jeans trend making a comeback. While she “invented” a handful of looks on 90210 – and loves seeing her daughter rocking fashion – Spelling revealed she hasn’t adopted every look yet.

“I feel like we created the styles, it’s back now and it’s all cool,” Spelling said. “But, my best friend, Jennie Garth, tells me all the time: ‘You can’t wear this.’ “
