Main bag trends in 2021
As the year takes a more optimistic turn, this will be reflected in what we wear in public again. Bags, an accessory really made to be worn outside our homes, finally have their moment: get out of their dust bags and get back into the sun. We collectively feel ready to go out and wear thing with us (!), unlike last year which was a great time for phone cases like hands-free bags and fanny packs when outings were less luxurious.
One of the biggest ‘trends’ for 2021 is less about what necessarily happened on the runway, but the feeling of investing in a more classic handbag style and ensuring that the value stays intact for sale or exchange in the future. We’ve put together five key trends that are also timeless, so they will be worthwhile investments.
Large chain energy
A substantial chain strap is a nod to a classic handbag detail, but in a very 2021 way, ‘step up to get out’. Bottega Veneta has reinvigorated this plus size material, but there are plenty of fabulous options available for you to find your own take on this trend.
Scoop, it is
The old-fashioned shovel shape is one to watch out for. Prada’s Cleo bag, shown here in white, is at the forefront of this trend, the style being a nod to a similar shape made popular by the brand in the ’90s. We love this shape not only. for its clean and minimalist design, but because it slips under the arm so comfortably that it’s super easy to wear.
The Monogram canvas is an eternal and investable trend. Gucci’s heirloom canvas with double Gs and an iconic red and green stripe, pictured here, has proven its worth. And with the hype surrounding the “House of Gucci” movie, it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.
Slime green, considered an unexpected pop in years past, has now become something of a neutral. It sort of… goes with everything? We love to see it casually worn with other soft colors.
A refreshing substitute for everyone’s favorite black, black, this warm shade of brown will extend this far in any wardrobe as well and look delicious in a multitude of handbag shapes.
