David Schwimmer or Ross Geller of “Friends” was an iconic character. His life went almost as well as that of the character he played. The story of Schwimmer’s $ 100 million growth is incredible.

David has an important career in addition to playing the role of Ross Geller on the American sitcom Friends. He starred in many films, explored dubbing, and eventually dabbled in directing. This may be one of the reasons he’s not seen on the big screen anymore, which doesn’t mean his Hollywood career is over.

David Schwimmer was born in 1966 to a Jewish family in Queens, New York. After moving to Los Angeles with his family, David discovered his passion for theater and Shakespeare. However, at first he may have been turned away from his acting career, as in his early years Schwimmer studied medicine. However, in 1988 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Speech, and soon after, the actor moved to Los Angeles to continue his acting activities.

Today we know Schwimmer for who he is – a renowned actor in the Hollywood industry. So that’s how he increased his $ 100 million.

FRIENDS

Even while studying for a medical degree, David attended summer programs and drama classes. After earning his bachelor’s degree in theater and speech, Schwimmer established a theater company called the Lookingglass Theater Company in Chicago. Soon after, he moved to Los Angeles with the dream of landing a successful acting career.

Schwimmer was seen on several TV shows before making his big breakthrough, Friends. These included LA Law, The Wonder Years, NYPD Blue, and Monty. He has also appeared in films like Deadly silence and Theft of the intruder, as indicated by Celebrity Net Worth.

However, Friends greatly increased his fame. The first episode itself drew 22 million viewers in America alone. The show became an instant hit, running for ten entire seasons with 236 episodes through 2004. David was paid around $ 22,500 per episode initially, but that quickly grew to $ 40,000 per episode with his growing popularity. In Season 3, the salary was $ 75,000 per episode and Season 4 was $ 85,000.

The pay rate skyrocketed as new seasons aired, and by the time he hit his final two seasons, David was making around $ 1 million per episode. The graph from season 1 to 10 is an exponential increase. Obviously, a significant part of David’s wealth over the years has come from his role as Ross Geller. After making $ 22 million from last season alone, the main cast has also continued to make money from royalties, as reported by Showbiz cheat sheet, which represents an additional $ 20 million each year.

An acting career outside of friends

Fans were so engrossed in David playing Ross Geller on Friends that they might have missed out on the other acting roles he took on while being on Friends. He would have acted in The wearer, kiss a fool, six days, seven nights, pick up the pieces, and Apt Pupil, to name a few. Many of these films have been successful at the box office.

Another notable phase of Schwimmer’s acting career was in 2001 when he played the notable role of Captain Herbert Sobel in a WWII-based miniseries. The show was titled Band of brothers. In addition, the actor also played the role of a vocal artist. David was the voice of Melman, the giraffe, in the beloved Madagascar movies, as indicated by Britannica.

Career as a film director

Interestingly, David’s implication in filmmaking was that he had started to familiarize himself with it when he directed a few episodes of Friends. However, his first official debut with film directing was with Run Fatboy Run.

Following this, he made a few other pieces like Caine’s Mutiny Court Martial, which was also her Broadway debut. Schwimmer had become great friends with co-star Matt le Blanc, who played another lead character Joey Tribbiani on Friends. According to Rich genius, Matt later insisted that David direct two episodes of the Friends spin-off called Joey.

David Schwimmer has rarely been seen on the big screen after ten seasons of Friends. However, once again he made a big appearance with the highly anticipated Friends: The Reunion. Apparently, the six of them will make around $ 2.5 million to $ 4 million just from The Reunion show alone. So naturally, fans are thrilled with this comeback, as is Schwimmer.
