PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle’s new ‘Sussex brand’ is now worth around £ 250million and they could become the ‘richest personal brand in the world’, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have resigned as royals, but that doesn’t appear to have hampered their ability to make money.

Just this week, it was reported that they had taken on a new job in the banking industry, having signed multi-million dollar partnerships with Netflix, Spotify and Apple.

Andrew Bloch, branding expert and founder of Frank PR, told Fabulous: “Since moving to California and resigning as royals, Harry and Meghan have made a number of deals. lucrative business deals and personal endorsements that have seen their personal wealth explode.

“I would estimate their combined net worth to be around £ 250million.

“They are really making the most of their new status and their potential to become the richest personal brand in the world seems imminently achievable.

“It’s certainly not out of the question that they become a billion dollar brand. The sky is limitless.

Here, Fabulous takes a look at some of Meghan and Harry’s latest brand partnerships that have seen their wealth soar …

Ethical banking

Worth £ 366,000 per year

Meghan and Harry have revealed that they have become ‘impact partners’ and investors in sustainable investment firm Ethic.

There are reports that the couple were introduced to the company by a friend.

In a statement, the couple said, “When we invest in each other, we change the world…

“Whether it’s investing time (like mentoring), investing in the community (like volunteering) or investing funds (for those who can afford it), our choices – how and where we put our energy – defining ourselves as a global community.

Andrew said advisory roles can come with a salary of $ 500,000 (£ 366,000).

HOW MUCH ARE OTHER POWER TORQUES?

While £ 250million ($ 342million) is a huge sum of money, the Sussexes have a long way to go to catch up with the best celebrity couples …

  • Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – $ 4 billion
  • Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z – $ 1.6 billion
  • George and Amal Clooney – $ 570 million
  • David and Victoria Beckham – $ 450 million
  • Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith – $ 400 million

Netflix Agreement

A £ 112million deal

The couple also signed a £ 112million deal with subscription streaming service Netflix to create their own shows.

They have entered into a multi-year agreement to produce nature series, documentaries and children’s shows.

It’s worth more than what Hollywood star Will Smith did for Netflix’s original Bright ($ 20 million) and Ryan Reynolds did for Six Underground ($ 27 million) combined.

Harry and former actress Meghan have denied claiming they were filming a “reality show”.

Spotify

£ 30million

Meghan and Harry’s lucrative partnership with Spotify has reportedly earned them at least £ 30million.

That’s 40 times more than what actress Amy Schumer did for her comedy podcast, 3 Girls, 1 Keith, for which the global giant paid $ 1million (around £ 740,000) in 2018 in a move that , according to industry insiders, would change the landscape of the humble old podcast world for good.

The royal couple’s gigantic fees mean they’ll likely earn more than Forbes top-paying podcaster Joe Rogan, who made $ 30million (£ 22million) in 2019, with 190million downloads per month.

An insider said the Duchess was “the driving force behind” the massive Archewell Audio podcast deal, which Spotify says “will uplift and entertain audiences.”

They have so far only released 35 minutes of content for their podcast deal.

Meghan’s vegan cafe

£ 7,300,000

Despite the severing of financial ties with the royal family, Harry and Meghan have insisted their actions “will continue to uphold the values” of the Queen.

But the Duchess is said to have sparked anger from the palace after enlisting close friend Oprah Winfrey to help her invest in coffee via an Instagram post.

Meghan – who invited Oprah to her and Harry’s wedding – has invested money in instant oat milk latte start-up Clevr Blends, which sells packs for £ 21 each.

It’s unclear how much Meghan has invested in the coffee company, but Andrew estimates it could potentially earn her up to £ 7,300,000 ($ 10,000,000).

Apple tv

Over £ 14million

A few years ago, Harry announced that he was working with Apple TV and Oprah Winfrey on a new series on mental health.

When the news broke, Harry revealed that he hopes the show will “save lives” because it encourages viewers to “open up.”

“The Me You Can’t See” premiered on May 21 on Apple TV + after being delayed due to a combination of Megxit and Covid restrictions.

The Mail reported that Harry was “being compensated for his contribution as ‘co-partner, co-creator and executive producer'” – but the figure was not disclosed.

Andrew said a long-term partnership between Harry and Apple TV could be worth £ 14million.

Harry’s Memories

£ 14.5million

Harry has received a £ 14.5million advance for his memoir, according to reports – but he will donate the proceeds to charity.

Harry has secretly written a book about his life in the royal family, his relationship with his wife Meghan and the education of his children.

Public speaking

£ 750,000 per speech

Harry and Meghan could make millions just by speaking at events – that is, if their strict list of requests doesn’t bother them.

The couple signed with elite New York-based Harry Walker Agency, whose clients include the Obamas and Meghan’s friend Serena Williams.

Former US President Barack Obama reportedly won nearly $ 400,000 (£ 320,000) for a speech in 2017.

And the Sussexes could win even more – with Andrew suggesting they could bring in – with suggestions they could charge $ 1million (£ 756,000) at a time.

Role of Harry’s BetterUp CIO

£ 366,000 per year

Harry landed a job as “impact manager” at a Silicon Valley startup.

The Duke of Sussex has said he wants to “make an impact” after being named a member of the management team of BetterUp Inc – a coaching and mental health company in the United States valued at 1.25 billion pounds sterling.

BetterUp CEO Alexi Robichaux said that while Prince Harry will not be managing employees, he needs to attend meetings at all levels and special company events.

It’s unclear what the royal’s salary will be, or if he will be compensated at all, but he’s now listed on the company’s website as Chief Impact Officer.

Andrew has indicated that the roles of CEO or adviser could bring in £ 366,000 a year.

Meghan and Harry said on their Sussex Royal website that they “appreciate the ability to earn a professional income” which they were not allowed to do as royals.

We recounted how the couple quietly put together a Hollywood sales team, including former Meghan sales manager Andrew Meyer, and public relations firm Sunshine Sachs.

Prince Harry was previously thought to be worth around £ 30.5million and Meghan around £ 3.5million from her acting career.

The couple are free to enter into book deals, TV deals, public speaking, fashion and brand partnerships after their separation from the royal family.
