Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron, sometimes referred to as Jupiter or Napoleon by French media, was President of France for about five and a half years. But who was the French politician before being appointed president? Express.co.uk has discovered incredible old photographs of Macron (thanks to the documentary “Macron, the meteor strategy” on France 3) and breaks down the story behind each image.

Emmanuel Macron is the youngest president in French history and the youngest French head of state since Napoleon, so what was this successful man doing before being appointed?

He was born on December 21, 1977 in Amiens, a city and town north of Paris.

His parents Françoise and Jean-Michel were together until 2010, so Macron grew up with both parents and two stay-at-home siblings.

Although the president is now agnostic and raised in a non-religious family, he was baptized a Catholic at his own request at the age of 12.

The young Mr. Macron was seen as a young adult, always preferring to spend time with elders rather than people his age.

For example, he was known to dine with his teachers and ignore flirtations from girls his age.

Emmanuel was considered an excellent student at the Jesuit institute Lycée la Providence but was sent to the elite Henri-IV Lycée in Paris to complete the high school and undergrad program for a scandalous reason.

You may know more about Mr Macron’s remarkable relationship with his wife than his politics, and their partnership is why he had to study elsewhere for his final year of school.

As you may know, the President is currently married to Brigitte Trogneux, who is 24 years his senior and his former teacher.

The couple met during a theater workshop Brigitte was teaching when Emmanuel was just 15, making him 39 at the time.

Mr Macron and Brigitte did not become an official couple until they were 18, but the parents of the current president were not happy with the game and considered it inappropriate.

They sent their son to school in Paris for his final year of study in a bid to separate the couple, but Emmanuel and Brigitte reunited after Mr Macron’s graduation. The couple married in 2007, when he was 29 years old.

A graduate of the National School of Administration (ENA), Mr. Macron became an inspector at the General Inspectorate of Finance, which is a branch of the Ministry of Finance.

In August 2007, he was appointed deputy rapporteur of the “Commission for the Liberation of French Growth” of Jacques Attali (French economic and social theorist, writer, political adviser who was the adviser to President François Mitterrand until 1991).

This photo shows the couple at work, with Mr Macron alongside Mr Attali who heads the first meeting of the Senate committee in Paris in September 2007.

Mr Macron would have been 28 in this photo, and the following year he would pay € 50,000 to redeem himself from his government contract and become an investment banker at Rothschild & Cie Banque (where he earned nearly 3 million dollars). ‘euros. Between 2009 and 2013).

Then, in 2010, he was appointed to the Attali Commission as a member.

It was not until 2021 that he became deputy secretary to the general of the Élysée, a management position within the staff of President François Hollande.

Mr. Macron resigned in 2014 to “pursue his personal aspirations” and create his own investment company that would try to finance educational projects.

He was then employed at the University of Berlin as a research fellow, announced in 2014 in his hometown of Amiens Macron was offered the possibility of being a candidate in the municipal elections but refused.

In August 2014, Mr Macron was appointed Minister of Economy and Industry (becoming the youngest in that post since 1962) and announced that he was considering running for president in April 2016.
