Drift Collective in Portsmouth showcases art, fashion and music

Trends come and go in a flash, making it nearly impossible not to play a part in fast fashion. You want the newest ripped t-shirt, to wear the hottest neon flare jeans, and as humans we want what’s in front of us. With social media, we are constantly bombarded with the hottest trends and it’s only natural to want to be a part of it.
In an effort to make trends ethical, affordable and sustainable, collective drift in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, recreate second-hand clothes to keep up with trends and even create their own.

Like their website actions, Drift’s mission is to
“..repairing and recreating second-hand clothing, bringing value to unwanted basics and forgotten vintage pieces.”
This is accomplished by modifying, repairing, screen printing, dying, building and rebuilding used clothing directly in-house. As they say, affordable does not mean cheap.
Drift Collective has its handy thrift store, but there’s even more to the art picture: an art house.
Drift Art House, Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Once you have a taste and appreciation for art, most mediums tend to appeal to you. So if you like fashion trends, you are probably interested in art and music. Drift combines different means of creativity into a space where expressive people from all walks of life can enjoy.
Over the weekend, I finally got to check it out for myself. What looks like a regular home for a family of four on the outside is actually an art gallery on the inside with a lovely enclosed courtyard that hosts local musicians to showcase their own kind of art.
The spot hosts musicians on a wooden pallet in the backyard as part of their Drift Backyard series where we can all come together to enjoy art, music, expression and companionship in a beautiful and intimate setting.
Whether you’re a creative yourself or a diverse art lover, you’ll find something to love about Drift.
