Actor to pay $ 2.2million settlement in legal action
Hollywood actor James Franco and his associates have agreed to pay more than $ 2 million to resolve a lawsuit alleging he tricked theater students into performing explicit sex scenes on camera.
A Los Angeles judge will have to sign the deal.
The lawsuit was led by two of Franco’s former students, Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Toni Gaal, who filed a complaint in October 2020 alleging that students at Franco’s Studio 4 Film School had been victims of fraud.
According to at Hollywood journalist, the $ 2,235,000 will allow Tither-Kaplan to receive $ 670,500, less $ 223,500 in legal fees. Gaal will receive $ 223,500, minus $ 74,500 for lawyers, with the other students receiving nearly two-thirds of the remaining pot.
The newspaper also indicates that the Pineapple Express actor agreed to “non-economic” terms for the plaintiffs, although this is currently the subject of a petition for sealing.

“While the defendants continue to deny the allegations contained in the complaint, they recognize that the plaintiffs have raised important issues; and all parties firmly believe that now is the time to focus on addressing the abuse of women in Hollywood.
“All agree on the need to ensure that no one in the entertainment industry – regardless of race, religion, disability, ethnicity, origin, gender or sexual orientation – does not is the victim of discrimination, harassment or prejudice of any kind. “
